We were fortunate to have
nicer weather for our school Terry Fox run on Monday, Sept. 23. Thank you to
all the students, staff, parents and families who participated and supported
our run! We even had a section of parent cheerleaders encouraging our walkers
and runners!
Tuesday, Oct. 1 is the last
day to bring in donations for Terry Fox. We hope to let you know our final
total by Thursday. Stayed tuned to see if we were able to meet our school goal
or raising $1000.00 for cancer research!
This week we started working on
throwing and catching skills. Students were also allowed to vote for their
choice of gym activity as a reward for their hard work during the Terry Fox
run. Dodgeball was a popular choice amongst many of the older classes.
Gym Safety
Students need indoor running
shoes they can put on independently. If your child has shoelaces, please make
sure they are able to tie them efficiently enough, so the laces stay done up
during gym activities. Otherwise, we recommend Velcro runners until this skill
has been learned.
Ask Me About:
Gr. 1 and 2- What does the
ready position look like when catching a ball? (feet apart, knees slightly
bent, hands up ready to catch, eyes looking at the thrower and the ball)
Gr. 3 to 5- Can you show a
proper wall push-up or clapping wall push-up? How many can you do in 30
seconds?
